There are many ways to become a sterile technician. You can get into this career by enrolling in an SPT training program, apprenticeship, on-the-job training, or direct application.

- Communication
This job requires clarity of command and detailed instruction. You would be responsible for the safety of patients and their treatment. Clear communication between agencies is critical to successfully managing sterile processing services.

Another essential skill in the decontamination industry is managing time effectively and delivering your tasks on time. Because in the healthcare industry, every second matters to save the lives of a patient.
- Attention to detail
You need to have a keen eye. That is why having CSPDT trainingcould give you an advantage. Enrolling in this program could teach and mould you to become an efficient sterile technician. The ability to maintain a sense of mindfulness during a service job.
Although you cannot see the microbial contamination, you can make sure you use the tools to detect it.
- Computer skills
You should also be able to use basic computing skills. In most treatment facilities, you should be able to take digital measurements and report online or offline.
A solid knowledge of the basics of computing, such as MS Office Suite, will help you move to higher management positions.
